Missions
Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son of the Holy Spirit... (Matthew 28:19)
The National Assemblies of God organization supports a growing family of more than 1,900 missionaries and 600 missionary associates --- ministering in 204 countries. In addition, it has nearly 970 missionaries in the U.S., including Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. These dedicated men and women are taking the message of Christ to cities, urban areas and remote villages, telling a lost world that Christ loves them and came to redeem them from their sins.
At St. Charles First Assembly we are focused on the objective of faithfully fulfilling this Great Commission of Christ, that is taking the Gospel to all the nations and people of the earth.
Missions - minded:
We educate everyone who enters our doors about the role Christians have in missions. Frequently those who attend our services have the privilege of hearing about a missionary or missions supported by our church. Once a year we hold a special Missions Convention completely devoted to promoting missions in the church. This week-long event offers the church opportunities to meet with and hear from missionaries from around the world.
Missions - giving:
The promotion of the gospel around the world requires a great deal of financial support. First Assembly supports a growing list of missionaries and continues to receive applications from missionaries for both monthly support and special projects. Each application is prayerfully considered by a missions committee and, at various times during the year, decisions for support and donations to projects are made. As part of this commitment, those attending First Assembly are given an opportunity to financially support missions each year through a "faith promise" - a financial pledge made during our Missions Conventions.
Missions - serving:
One of the most life-changing things a Christian can experience is a short-term missions trip. Such trips, which we call MAPS trips, not only bless and encourage missionaries around the world, but they can have a dramatic impact on the lives of those who take advantage of such trips. Therefore, as a church, we provide several opportunities each year for people to experience such a trip to minister for one week or more. Those participating in a missions trip can choose to be involved in construction work, medical team, or prayer / evangelism ministry teams.
Youth Missions Trip - July 2010
